It all began with a brick match and a question.

Asked by the brickwork subcontractor to find a match to an iconic building from the early 20c and finishing with a 3 year partnership that involved the design and supply of all the brickwork, natural stonework moulded into copings to seamlessly match the buildings surrounding it, precast arches, aprons and window surrounds to bring that historic feel, a bespoke glazed brick feel to the ground floor to bring robustness and Limestone Hard-landscaping in the entrance areas, the building has now found it’s soul again and stands proud as one of Europe’s iconic hotels.

Lesley Lawson, Head of Design Coordination for Galliard Homes summed up the partnership perfectly.

“It was a pleasure working with Derek and the Team who provided experience and professionalism in assisting us to replicate traditional features in stone and brickwork but in a modern construction method. The details, through both design and materials were extremely helpful in getting the Planning Dept and Historic Officer on board with the repairs and the extensive works we were carrying out on a very Public Historic Building in the Ownershiip of The Crown Estates.”
